OCTOBER DEVOTION – DAY – 29 – THE HOLY ROSARY – CONQUERING SPIRITUAL BLINDNESS
The spiritual battle of our time is spiritual blindness. It is the inability to see as God sees. The things of God are seen through faith, wisdom, revelation and divine illumination and not merely by reason, inquiry and observation. To be free of spiritual blindness is to be led by the way, the truth and the life of Jesus Christ (John 14:6). As believers in Christ, we have the Spirit of God but once we fail to apply the Gospel values in assessing every event in our lives we fall into the darkness of sight called spiritual blindness. Spiritual blindness is the spiritual inability to perceive and discern the will of God in all we do. Thus, our spiritual sight can remain active and alive based on our desire to allow the truth of God to govern all we do. Spiritual blindness is a sign of spiritual immaturity. Once we are spiritually blind, we need a miracle like Bartimaeus by praying the Jesus prayer: “Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me” (Mark 10:47). More so, through the Rosary we can do whether the Lord tells us (John 2:5).
