I don’t envy families and their numerous tasks especially in nurturing and training the youth towards maturity and responsible citizenry. In working hard to realize the aforementioned goals, many factors have been thwarting the efforts made by families, the Church and government. Today, the major problems with youthfulness is lack of meaning, purpose and direction. To worsen matters, some families are over pampering our youth and the youth have become too spoon-fed that they cannot think, initiate and creatively achieve things in life. And as the ancient philosopher Aristotle says: “Nature abhors a vacuum.” Therefore, the gap created by over pampering has been filled up by a “first class” alternative – ADDICTION. According to research findings and observations, a significant number of our youth are struggling with one or more forms of addictions. This is worrisome and it calls for a quick intervention. Amidst the different interventions to assist the youth, the Rosary remains a unique psycho-spiritual instrument to liberate the youth from all categories of addictions. The main power of addictions is the disconnection from the self, others and God. The Rosary as a chain does not remain in its symbolism but in reality holding it in the hands and meditating on its mysteries has transformed the lives of numerous people. May God through Mary assist our youth to rediscover this wonderful treasure so that they can discover and define the meaning, purpose and direction of their lives and bring glory to God, their families, the Church and the society; Mother Mary lead your youth to discover the Rosary, the chain of recovery and restoration.
