Today is WORLD TEACHERS DAY and we are grateful for the gift of Teachers! The good news is that Jesus Christ is a Teacher! Priests are Teachers! And parents are Teachers! The joy and celebration of Teachers in our world today is not what it ought to be because of the misplacement of priorities and value systems in the world especially Africa generally and Nigeria specifically. We are always driven by the quest to hit the end and neglect the means. If not, why Teachers who lay the foundations of our growth and development processes should be taken for granted, undervalued and marginalized! This is a reality that calls for our concern and reflection.

The second good news is that the Blessed Virgin Mary is a Teacher of the mysteries of God and the mysteries of Life. Hence, every decade of the Rosary is meant to uncover the mysteries of God and our intimacy with God through the Virgin Mary and her Rosary offers us the opportunities to unearth the wonders of God. Don’t forget, the mysteries of God are loaded with His saving powers and whenever we pray the Rosary we associate ourselves with the saving power of God. The Virgin Mary unveiled the highest mystery of God by conceiving and giving birth to Jesus Christ. This is great and must never be taken lightly.

Now to Teachers of our age, we deal with human persons directly and indirectly; however, every human person is also a mystery that was created and endowed by God through His Son in the Holy Spirit. Therefore, we need the wisdom, knowledge, patience and understanding of the Blessed Virgin Mary to take care of the human persons under our care. Today, we are facing new challenges in our understanding of the human person. Therefore, it is wise to have recourse to the Rosary since it is associated with super mysteries of God and we have been praying it for centuries and it has been a great instrument for understanding God and His mysteries. On a final note, it would be wise for Teachers to humbly embrace the Rosary, pray it and propagate it. All to assist us to equally understand the mystery of the human persons in our schools, Churches and families. Teachers go for the Rosary and experience the impacts of the Rosary in the upbringing and understanding of human persons. Let all of us also pray for Teachers at all levels of our educational systems, the Church and families for the grace to appreciate their noblest profession and vocation – TEACHING. MARY MOTHER OF TEACHERS  – PRAY FOR US!
