Month of Mary-May Devotions-Day 4-Faith of Mary
The biblical definition of faith will forever remain resounding as it offers the essence of our trust and confidence in God, in our hearts, on our minds and it will keep our souls and spirits active and alive. It says: “Faith is the realization of what is hoped for and evidence of things not seen” (Heb. 1:1). Mary had longed, prayed and hoped for the redemption and salvation of humankind and all that happened without her full knowledge but because of her firm faith in God, a faith firm and immovable as a rock, she believed against all the hurdles of unbelief and uncertainties of life as she echoed her deep YES to God – “I am the handmaid of the Lord, let what you have said be done to me” (Luke 1:38). The yes of Mary has resulted in the birth of the Church and Christianity. What are the fruits of my yes to God, myself, and the world?
Prayer: Lord God our Father and Jesus Christ the author of our faith and in the unity of the Holy Spirit, we acknowledge the fact that we are surrounded by the challenges of the dictatorship of relativism, the allurements of sensualities, the forces of materialism and the weight of secularism that desacralises our hard earned faith. However, faith says we can make it because you our God is alive and active and one with You is a majority. Therefore, through the office of Mother Mary the archetype of the Church’s faith, we ask that Heaven may help us to express daily a deep YES to you our God and the Church without counting the cost, in order to learn to say a deep NO to things that do not matter nor concern our well-being. Amen. Virgin Most Faithful – pray for us!
