Feast of the Lord’s Transfiguration: Contemplating the Face of Christ
The feast of Transfiguration of the Lord offers us the opportunity to renew our personal prayer life. Through this feast we have the privilege to reflect on the effects of the prayer life of Jesus Christ in order to inform our prayer life. We know Jesus as a Man of prayer. One who prayed for forty days and forty nights in the desert! He had a prolonged contemplation of the Face of His Father. Before taking any key decision in His life and ministry, Jesus prayed. He retired into solitude and prayerful moments after teaching, preaching and healing. It was on Mount Tabor that His Face was transfigured while praying. He communed with His Father and the apostles heard clearly the voice of the Father and they were empowered to love. We also need this awesome experience of the transfiguration of the Lord. This can happen to us as we embark on our annual and personal retreats, as adorers of the Holy Eucharist, through some religious experience or even through a healing miracle. The Lord comes in different ways. What we need is docility and availability to His love.
A reminder: Novena in honour of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary begins today. Please endeavour to participate and celebrate the mystery of Our Lady’s Assumption, come 15th of August, 2018. Thanks!
The Lord bless you and keep you:
The Lord make his face to shine upon you, and be gracious to you:
The Lord lift up his countenance upon you, and give you peace (Num. 6:24-26).
