Rev. Fr. John-Mary Benedict Ntol Atep

Peace be with you!

“Be thankful in all circumstances. This is what God wants from you in your life in union with Christ Jesus” (1Thess. 5:18).

COVID-19 for sure is the trending pandemic that is hovering around the globe and we must thank God the Father, His Son and the Holy Spirit through the powerful intercessions of the Blessed Virgin Mary and St. Mark, for the love, joy and peace that we have enjoyed during our lockdown experiences.

I also thank you for taking the precautionary measures seriously and above all I am mindful of the truth that we have discovered more about ourselves, our families and ultimately God during our lockdown experiences. Human persons are given the opportunity to adjust and accept conditions in life. However, in the course of trying to adjust and adapt to a new situation in life, we consciously and unconsciously alter our bio-socio-mental-spiritual orders. For instance, many couples may be experiencing strange feelings in a home, where for many years they have not being staying together. A marriage and/or family that leaves much to be desired. Children, we have longed and prayed for, even at times “forcing God to go out of His ways to support conception” may become a burden to us due to their developmental tasks and hyperactivity. There is also the smell of redundancy, boredom and restlessness. There is the fear of getting too close to others due to social distancing rule and so on.

Again, some of us may be experiencing loneliness instead of solitude. Lack of finances and how to face the future may be breeding fear and uncertainties. And some of us may be experiencing effects of unprocessed emotions like blame, depression, anxiety, indifference, judgment, indecision, procrastination, perfectionism, resentment, self-pity, confusion and guilt. Please do something needful by calling and talking about the way you feel. Sigmund Freud reminds us that: “Unexpressed emotions will never die. They are buried alive and will come forth later in uglier ways.”

To stay safe: Be prayerful, Eat well, Drink plenty of water, Sleep well, Exercise well and also TALK WELL through tele-counselling and therapy. For too long, we have been living as supermen and superwomen. The human person was never created to harbour emotional blocks. Mind you, they kill faster than viruses!

So, Jesus Christ the psycho-spiritual therapist par excellence says: “Come to me, all you that are weary and are carrying heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me; for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light” (Matt. 11:28-30).

YOU ARE ALWAYS IN MY PRAYERS, LIVE IN THE HERE AND NOW, CALL FOR A TALK AND PLEASE PRAY FOR ME!

May He grant many more of us the grace to take advantage of this great offer of His to take over our burden through your tele-counseling therapy services.
