Struggles in prayer

The psalmist’s expression “deep calls to deep in the roar of your torrent” (Ps. 42:7) explains the depth of  our yearning for God. We need God at all cost because He has created us for Himself and we shall remain restless until we find our place in His Being and Kingdom. Little wonder, St. Paul in his beautiful Christological hymn says, “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places, even as he chose us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and blameless before him” (Eph. 1:3-4). So, we belong to God and the greatest means of our connectivity or relationship with Him is prayer. Here comes the first struggle to maintain our links with God: “I am too busy to pray!” “Too busy to bow down” “I am always on the move, so I can’t pray”
