Our Young people/Youth!
Today we celebrate St. John Bosco, the “father and teacher of youth.” Our families, the Church and the society can grow and be a bit certain of their continuity if and only if we have good children and the youth. A legacy or achievement without a successor is a failure in perpetuity. So, the Lord instructs: “Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. “Honour your father and mother”—which is the first commandment with a promise— “so that it may go well with you and that you may enjoy long life on the earth” (Eph. 6:1-3). And for the youth: “Let our sons in their youth be as grown-up plants, And our daughters as corner pillars fashioned as for a palace” (Ps. 114:12). May God through the intercession of Don Bosco and the prayers of the Salesians worldwide empower our children and our youth with the right hearts and mind to discover and sustain their identities, dignities and destinies, through Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen. St. John Bosco – pray for us!
