My image of God

July 20, 2018frjohnma

It is true that many of us pray and we thank God that we have cultivated the attitude and disposition to pray. Note, without prayer it would be very difficult to live a spiritual life. Hence we say that prayer is the master key that can open all doors. The greatest door in heaven and on earth is the Heart of God and prayer opens it without any cost implication. If you conduct a poll to find out what people have to say about who God is  (their images of God), you may be amazed at the volume of images that people of all faiths and walks of life could turn in.  According to research findings and from our observations, 90 percent of our images of God are from our parents, guardians and possibly teachers. You can see how the Pharisees were arguing with Jesus in Matt. 12:1-8 about the attribute of God that should take precedence; mercy or sacrifice? They had conflicting images of God which informed their understanding and actions. So, Jesus had to intervene by saying, “I desire mercy and not sacrifice.” Please, endeavour to evaluate your image of God.

Prayer:  Lord assist us to break through our imposed images on you in order to know truly who you are. Amen. I prayerfully wish you a spirit-filled weekend! God bless all travellers with protection and safety. Amen.

Comment (Required)Yes, images of God are different depending on one’s situation at time of prayers. When you don’t believe and trust in Him it becomes more confusing. As for me I have total believe and trust in Him and have to be patient and wait for His time.
