BORN FROM ABOVE (John 3:1-8)
“Since you have been brought back to true life with Christ, you must look for the things that are in heaven, where Christ is, sitting at God’s right hand. Let your thoughts be on heavenly things, not on the things that are on the earth, because you have died, and now the life you have is hidden with Christ in God” (Col. 3:1-3).
After the Easter Octave which centres on the resurrection of Christ; from the second week of Easter (Eastertide), we are presented with readings that are to help us in discovering and developing spiritual resources to live a resurrected life in Christ Jesus. The first step towards the resurrected life is to be born from above (to be born anew, to be born again). The Pauline verses above that serve as an epigraph to our prayer reflection for the day emphasizes that we live a life worthy of our experience of the resurrected Christ. To be born from above means primarily to be baptized in Christ and by extension, it goes with a responsibility. The responsibility is to be spiritually minded in all we do. Christ has resurrected and He is above, therefore we need to ascend and meet Him through a sound spiritual life. To do so is to enter into the school of the Holy Spirit, through prayer, search for the knowledge of self and witnessing.
Please pray for the Church, for the World, for yourself and for me.
Prayer: Grant, we pray, almighty God,
that we, who have been renewed by paschal remedies,
transcending the likeness of our earthly parentage,
may be transformed in the image of our heavenly maker.
Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son,
who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God, for ever and ever. Amen.
